Publication governance

Editorial Policy

The decisions that govern what Laser Workbench publishes, what it refuses to claim and how commercial relationships are kept outside editorial conclusions.

The publication test

Would Laser Workbench still publish this if no affiliate commission existed?

If the answer is no, the subject does not earn editorial space. Content must improve a real reader decision or workshop task and contain a useful work product: reconciliation, comparison, calculation, diagram, worksheet, documented test or genuine project.

Independence

Affiliate availability, commission rate and merchant preference do not control subject selection, evidence classification, weighting or conclusion. Commercial relationships are disclosed separately. An affiliate product may be rejected; a non-affiliate product may be included.

Prohibited claims

Laser Workbench does not invent or imply hands-on testing, ownership, measurement, interviews, quotations, professional qualifications, audience size, product performance or workshop experience. “Laser Workbench tested” may appear only after a real documented test whose method, sample, equipment, observations and limitations are published.

Evidence operations live elsewhere

The detailed source hierarchy, evidence labels, conflict rule and worked example are maintained in How We Compare. This policy does not repeat that method; it governs its use.

Safety and consequential reviews

Safety, rankings, calculations, installation guidance, certification claims and substantive commercial comparisons require human editorial approval before publication. Missing evidence is shown as unknown, conflict or a decision stop—not completed from plausibility.

Corrections and updates

Reported errors are reviewed against available evidence. Genuine errors are corrected; material corrections are visibly noted where appropriate. Consequential specifications retain a check date, and affected conclusions are reviewed when their evidence changes. The reporting route is published at Corrections.
