Privacy & Analytics

How Laser Workbench handles consent, optional analytics and verified hosting logs.

At a glance

  • Google Analytics is optional.
  • GA4 does not load unless Analytics is accepted.
  • A necessary first-party preference remembers accepted or rejected.
  • The choice can be reopened and changed.

What this notice covers

This notice describes the first-party consent component and its GA4 behaviour, together with the verified cPanel Raw Access and Errors configuration described below. It does not make assumptions about forms, embedded media or provider-internal services that have not been verified.

Hosting and server logs

Laser Workbench is hosted on Namecheap shared hosting and is served by LiteSpeed. The website's static files do not add custom access, error or application logging. cPanel Raw Access logs are active for laserworkbench.com. A representative SSL Raw Access log contained visitor IP address, date and time, HTTP method, requested URL or path, HTTP protocol, status code, response size, referrer where supplied, and user-agent, browser or device information where supplied.

cPanel is configured to archive Raw Access logs to the account home directory after statistics processing, which cPanel currently states occurs every 24 hours. It is configured to remove the previous month's archived logs at the end of each month. Custom archived-log retention is off. This configuration is not a fixed retention period in days.

cPanel also provides a web-server Errors interface. At the time inspected, it reported no recent web-server errors and no recent suEXEC events for laserworkbench.com. That point-in-time result does not establish an error-log retention period.

Limits of the available evidence: Namecheap or LiteSpeed provider-internal operational or security logging, provider-level retention, storage location, recipients, subprocessors and deletion arrangements have not been verified. Error-log retention has not been verified.

Necessary preference storage

After a visitor chooses Accept analytics or Reject analytics, Laser Workbench stores a first-party preference named lw_consent_v1. It contains accepted or rejected so the site can apply that choice across pages.

The preference uses Secure, SameSite=Lax and Path=/ and is stored for 180 days.

Optional Google Analytics

For a visitor whose choice is unknown, Google Analytics remains unloaded and no Google Analytics request is made. Rejecting Analytics stores the rejected preference and keeps GA4 unloaded. Accepting Analytics stores the accepted preference and only then requests and configures GA4 measurement ID G-RQ41HY9NC3.

The implementation uses Google Basic Consent Mode v2. analytics_storage changes to granted only after acceptance. ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization remain denied.

GA4 property settings

Google Signals is off. Ads personalisation is off. User-provided data collection is off. Granular location and device data collection is off, while standard country and region metadata remains. All four optional Data Sharing settings are off.

Event data is retained for 2 months and user data for 14 months. Reset on new activity is enabled. The GA4 data-deletion-request facility is available.

Limits of the available evidence: the Google contracting entity, any data transfers, and the exact default GA4 events and fields have not been verified and are not stated here.

Reopening or withdrawing your choice

Cookie Preferences can be reopened from the site footer or from Cookie Preferences. A visitor can change rejected to accepted or accepted to rejected.

When accepted is changed to rejected, the component updates Analytics consent to denied, clears accessible GA cookies matching _ga, _ga_*, _gid and _gat*, stores the rejected preference and reloads into a state where GA4 does not load.

Withdrawing the browser preference does not delete information already received by Google.
