Workshop & systems
Map the systems around the laser
Cooling, air assist, extraction, power, workholding and software are not one universal accessory bundle. Record what the exact machine and work require, what is included, what needs evidence and who maintains it.
The direct answer
Begin with the exact model, configuration and manual. For each surrounding system mark required, not required for this configuration or unknown. An unknown belongs in the requirements brief and setup budget, not in an assumed accessory basket.
Use a dependency map
| System | Question to answer | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Cooling | Is cooling integrated or external, and what operating/maintenance requirements apply? | Exact manual/configuration |
| Air assist/compressed air | Is it required, included, optional or process-specific? | Manual and accessory documentation |
| Extraction/filtration | What outlet, capture, airflow route and destination are required? | Manual plus exposure/control evidence |
| Power/services | What supply and room services does the exact configuration require? | Manual and competent check where needed |
| Workholding/accessories | Which jobs need rotary, pass-through, fixtures or specialist beds? | Your requirements and exact compatibility |
| Software/computer/network | Which control workflow is supported and maintainable? | Current software/device documentation |
| Maintenance/spares | What must be cleaned, inspected or replaced, and by whom? | Exact maintenance instructions |
Why exact documentation matters
Operating manuals attach installation, environmental and maintenance conditions to a particular machine.1 Manufacturer support for another model may give a useful question, but it does not transfer the answer. For example, xTool’s P2S FAQ gives exact filter-screen maintenance wording for that model.2
Turn the map into procurement questions
- Record exact model, variant and included configuration.
- List each system as included, separately required, not required or unknown.
- Attach the exact source/date to every required item.
- Check physical route, room, service and maintenance consequences.
- Add quote and contingency fields in the setup budget.
- Stop where a consequential requirement remains unknown.
